1.1 This Standard applies to the certification of manufacturers of steel building systems as defined in Clause 3.1.
1.2 This Standard prescribes the procedure for certification based on an audit of a manufacturer's plant(s) and facilities by the certification agency. The audit shall cover the following items as they relate to the capability of the manufacturer to produce steel building systems in conformance with Clause 2.1:
(a) personnel (Clause 4); (b) design and engineering (Clause 5); (c) materials control (Clause 6); (d) fabrication (Clause 7); (e) warehousing, packaging, and shipping (Clause 8); (f) erection responsibility (Clause 9); and (g) plant quality program (Clause 10).
1.3 This Standard provides the requirements for a certificate of design and manufacturing conformance for each steel building system supplied by a certified manufacturer (see Clause 12). Note: This should not be constructed as third-party certification of the steel building system.
