Preface
This is the third edition of No. 94 of a series of Standards issued by the Canadian Standards Association under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code.
This new edition replaces the second edition published in 1970, which will be withdrawn on the effective date for this third edition.
Changes in Clauses from the previous edition and published revisions are indicated by a vertical line in the margin of the Clause. Editorial changes such as the renumbering of a Clause are not marked.
This Standard was prepared under the jurisdiction of the Committee on CE Code, Part II, which is subsidiary to the Committee 0n CE Code, Part I, and was formally approved by these Committees.
Scope

This Standard applies to the following types of enclosures for electrical equipment for potentials up to 5000 volts and intended to be used in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I:
(a) Enclosure 2 Dripproof;
(b) Enclosure 3 Weatherproof;
(c) Enclosure 4 Water—tight;
(d) Enclosure 5 Dust—tight, but not suitable for Class II Hazardous Locations.

This Standard applies to the enclosures for electrical equipment such as fuses, switches, circuit breakers, panelboards, heaters, industrial control equipment, bus bars, air conditioners, transformers, appliances, battery chargers and similar electrical equipment in locations exposed to moisture, weather, non—explosive and non— conducting dust, also enclosures in locations exposed to readily ignitible fibres, or combustible flyings (Class III Hazardous Locations as defined in the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I).
