Preface

This is the fifth edition of CSA Standard C22.2 No. 96. The title has been changed to Portable Power Cables. Previous editions were published in 1951, 1958, 1964 and 1974. It is issued by the Canadian Standards Association under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code and is written in SI (metric) units. It was originally prepared by the Subcommittee on Portable Power Cable (C68.4) and it supersedes CAN3-C68.4-M86.

Scope

This Standard covers the construction and testing of portable power cables normally used in applications where the cables are subject to frequent flexing, and installation is in accordance with CSA Standards CAN3-M421, Use of Electricity in Mines, and/or C22.1-1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
