Preface
This is the second edition of No. 30 of a series of Standards issued by Canadian Standards Association under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code. It supersedes the first edition published in 1970.

This edition includes requirements for enclosures for use in gaseous mines as well as increased requirements for the impact and routine overpressure tests.

Scope
1.1
This Standard covers the details of construction and test for explosion-proof enclosures for electrical equipment to be used in Class 1, Division 1, Groups A,B, C, and D hazardous locations and gaseous mines in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Parts I and V.
1.2
Other Standards for hazardous location. Equipment covering specific types of equipment shall take precedence over this Standard.
1.3
Unless otherwise marked, this Standard applies to enclosures intended for use in ambient temperatures of
(a) —50 to +40°C for Class |, Groups A, B, C, andD; and
(b) 0 to +40°C for gaseous mines.
