Preface
This is the fourth edition of CSA C22.2 No. 150, Microwave ovens, one of a series of Standards issued by CSA Group under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code. It supersedes the previous editions published in 1989, 1980, and 1974. This Standard also replaces the CSA Technical Information Letter (TIL) No. C-31, Interim Certification Requirements for Microwave Ovens.
The major differences between this edition and the previous edition include the addition of requirements for polymeric enclosures, internal wiring flame rating and electrical connections, the nichrome wire ignition test, the potato fire containment test, the waveguide and stirrer fire containment test, and the thermally protected AC fan motor ignition test.
For general information on the Standards of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part II, see the Preface of CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 0, General requirements — Canadian Electrical Code, Part II.
