Scope

The CSA B149.1HB-00 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code Handbook is solely intended for use as a companion document to CSA B149.1-00 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code. This Handbook is not a substitute for the Code; there are Code requirements that are not found in the Handbook. The Handbook contains materials that have been developed to help users understand, interpret, and apply the Code requirements. It contains information that is useful to natural gas and propane appliance installers, regulatory and inspection authorities, and anyone interested in understanding current practices for natural gas and propane appliance installations. Included are intent and rationale statements of Code requirements commonly requiring interpretation in the field, commentary including text and figures, explaining fundamental principles of appliance installations, illustrations of Code requirements, tables providing useful information, examples on how to apply Code requirements, and better practice notes.
