1.1 This Standard applies to the construction and performance of automatically operated damper devices (herein referred to as devices) intended for installation in flue pipes serving automatically operated oil-fired appliances.
Note: Also included are two Appendices concerned with the retrofitting of these devices to existing appliance installations.
1.2 This Standard applies to damper devices having an inlet a rea not exceeding that of a 12 inch (300 mm) diameter circle.
1.3 This Standard applies to devices capable of handling flue gases up to 1000°F (540°C) in temperature.
1.4 Products that comply with this Standard shall not be acceptable if, when examined and tested, they are found to have additional features that reduce the degree of protection provided by the Standard.
1.5 Metric units of measurement in this Standard are in accordance with the International System of Units (SI). If a value for measurement as given in this Standard is followed by an eq uivalent value in other units, the first stated is to be regarded as the requirement. A given equivalent value may be approximate.
