1.1.1 This Standard applies to newly produced type 2 clothes dryers (see Part IV, Definitions) hereinafter referred to as dryers, constructed entirely of new, unused parts and materials:
a. For use with natural gas; b. For use with manufactured gas; c. For use with mixed gas; d. For use with propane gas; e. For use with liquefied petroleum gases; and f. For use with LP gas-air mixtures.
The construction of dryers for use with the above-mentioned gases is covered under Part I. The performance of dryers for use with the above-mentioned gases is covered under Part II.
1.1.2 This Standard also covers all electrical equipment, wiring and accessories built in or supplied for use with the dryer. It covers only dryers whose electrical equipment, wiring and accessories are intended to be installed in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 or Canadian Electrical Code, CSA C22.1. This Standard covers dryers having supply voltage ratings of 120, 208, 240, 277 or 480 volts.
1.1.3 If a value for measurement as given in this standard is followed by an equivalent value in other units, the first stated value is to be regarded as the specification.
1.1.4 Special construction provisions applicable to a clothes dryer designed for use with an optional listed conversion kit are outlined under Exhibit C, (Optional) Provisions for Listed Gas Appliance Conversion Kits.
1.1.5 All references to psi throughout this standard are to be considered gage pressures unless otherwise specified.
