Overview
Designed to give participants a solid foundation to understand and apply the latest requirements of the 2018 Canadian Electrical Code, Part I of particular relevance to commercial, industrial and institutional construction projects.
With a focus on new installation and renovation projects, this training course explores the most practical CE code concepts through scenarios, interactive activities and real-world examples for the commercial, industrial and institutional construction sectors to help participants interpret Code requirements necessary to create and maintain a safe working environment.
This course will be ideal for CE code users working in commercial, industrial and institutional construction projects. The course aims to help professionals working in the construction industry save time, increase productivity and maximize their learning experience by focusing on the most relevant sections, applicable examples & requirements in construction situations.

Learning Objectives
- Understand the requirements necessary to create and maintain a safe working environment during an electrical installation in commercial, institutional and industrial applications.
- Gain a fundamental understanding of the definitions, scope and objective of the 2018 Canadian Electrical Code as they apply to construction-related electrical installations.
- Discover how to determine which electrical equipment and devices are approved as suitable for use and describe the general requirements related to the integrity of electrical installations and safety.
- Describe the requirements for wiring, conductors, protective devices, Class 1 and Class 2 circuits, as well as the requirements for electrical equipment as they apply in construction environments
- Learn how to calculate the correct size for conductors using the updated tables of the latest edition of CSA C22.1.
- Identify the requirements for grounding and bonding to lessen the possibility and severity of electric shock and to prevent damage to property during a fault event.
