Z1003 Psychological Health & Safety in the Workplace
Navigating the National Standard for Successful Implementation
We are pleased to announce that we have converted this course to a virtual, instructor-led format. Virtual courses may take place over several days in half day sessions. We have redesigned all our courses to maximize learning in a virtual environment. Students will still have the opportunity to participate and interact with the instructor.
Virtual Training – Virtual AM sessions will be delivered from 8:30 – 12:30 ET. Virtual Midday sessions will be delivered from 11:30 - 15:30 ET. Virtual PM sessions will be delivered from 13:30 – 17:30 ET.
Each Attendee participates in the live, instructor-led sessions via a dedicated desktop or laptop. Tablet and Mobile are not compatible to the CSA Group’s Webex Training sessions.

With a focus on the proactive management of hazards and risks associated with mental injury, this standard highlights the importance and complexity of this subject and provides comprehensive and systematic guidelines to minimize organizational risks.
CSA Group is offering this interactive session which will help participants understand how to implement the standard through careful assessment and effective planning. This course provides participants with detailed guidance on how to work through the requirements of CSA Z1003 using the handbook, Assembling the Pieces - An Implementation Guide to the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. With references to numerous resources and focused group activities, participants will learn how to easily navigate the standard and implement an effective psychological health and safety management system within their own organization.

Susan has an extensive background in clinical nursing; workplace mental health; health, safety & wellness and human resources. She has vast experience as a manager and director in supporting the success of people in the workplace in both public service and private organizations. This unique blend of knowledge, skills and experience results in the ability to provide programming to clients that is relevant, timely and meaningful to the realities of today’s workplaces.
Susan develops and delivers healthy workplace programs with a focus on mental health, self-care, team care and resilience building. She works with employers to balance workplace health with the business imperative to provide practical and realistic approaches to psychological health and safety at work.
Following a 25 year career at St Josephs Health Care, Hamilton, Ontario in nursing as a front line critical care nurse, patient educator and manager, Susan pursued a career in Human Resources with a focus on labour relations. She later joined the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, Toronto for a 10 year career as a Human Resources Business Partner and the Director of Health, Safety and Wellness. Her passion for workplace mental health was ignited in this role where she developed mental health policies and programs. Since then Susan has spent the last 10 years in her own consulting business, Jakobson Consulting and Analytics where she has provided services in the public sector to Ontario Public Service, Ministry of Children and Youth Services, McMaster University, Hamilton Health Sciences, Mental Health Commission of Canada and to several private sector organizations such as Agronomy Canada.
