The Hydrogen Fuel System Inspector Personnel Certification program has been developed by CSA Group in conjunction with interested parties in the industry to provide assurance that an individual possesses the competencies deemed necessary to perform the job function of a Hydrogen Fuel System Inspector. The certification is designed to complement accreditation programs for verification bodies.
The hydrogen fuel system inspector examination will test the candidate’s ability to inspect compressed hydrogen vehicle containers and fuel systems, identify and document deficiencies, and the safe handling of containers and fuel system components.

ISO/IEC 17024 is the global benchmark for organizations operating personnel certification programs and outlines the methods and procedures required to ensure the objective and unbiased assessment of a candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities.

To apply to take the Hydrogen Fuel System Inspector exam for certification, candidates must satisfy the following prerequisites:
- Complete CSA Hydrogen FSI online training or equivalent and;
- Proof of 2 years of industry working experience or approved industry certification such as:
- CSA CNG FSI Certification
- Red Seal in one of the following trades: Heavy-duty equipment technician, truck and transport mechanic, automotive service technician, transport trailer technician
- ASE certification using one of the following tests: Alternative Fuels Certification Test (F1) or Transit Bus Certification Test – Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Engines (H1)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
When your application is submitted and accepted by CSA Group, you will have 6 months to complete the certification process.
You will be permitted to challenge the written exam up to two additional times if necessary, for a total of three times per application. Additional sitting fees are applicable for second and third exam attempts as necessary.
Fees submitted with your initial application cover the application fee and one examination attempt.
Once you have passed the exam and have earned certification, you will be listed on CSA Group's People Search database of certified personnel.
