Preface
This new CSA Standard B33.4, Galvanized Steel Tower Bolts and Nuts, forms part of a series of Standards on threaded products and is the first edition of a standard dealing with galvanized steel tower bolts and nuts which may be used in metal structures, such as for electrical power transmission and substations, and antenna towers.
Authorization of a Committee was given in 1962 to prepare a CSA Standard for high strength bolts and nuts for structural purposes. During the following year further direction was given for the scope of the standard to cover the manufacture and use of galvanized steel tower bolts and nuts based on the appropriate ASTM Standard and standards used by the public utilities.
This Standard was prepared by the Committee on Galvanized Steel Tower Bolts and Nuts under the jurisdiction of the Sectional Committee on Screw Threads and Screw Products and was formally approved by these Committees.
Scope
1.1
This Standard covers hexagon and square galvanized steel tower bolts and nuts, in three grades corresponding to SAE Grade 2, SAE Grade 5, and SAE Grade 5.2 and :ranging in size from 1/2 to 1 inch in diameter inclusive.

These bolts are intended for use in metal structures for electrical power transmission and substations, metal antenna towers and similar structures. This Standard does not cover interference bolts.

Where reference is made to other publications, such references shall be considered to refer to the lastest edition and any revisions thereto approved by the organization issuing that publication.

The appendices contain general explanatory notes as well as a suggested “Grip” Table.
