Preface
This is the first edition of CSA Special Publication Z243.57- 1991, Canadian Vocabulary of Information Technology Security. The vocabulary is in three parts:
Part 1, Vocabulary of Prepared Terms, contains the information technology security definitions that are believed to be most appropri ate for SC27 work.
Part 2, Vocabulary of Alternative Definitions, contains alternatives to some definitions in Part 1. Any definition in Part 1, which has related definitions in Part 2 is annotated with a +; the number of +'s beside the term indicates the number of its alternative definitions.
Part 3, Acronyms and References, contains the acronyms used, references, and cross-references.
The security vocabulary will assist both developers and Standard development teams, by providing a reference guide to security definitions accepted in the IT community.
