Commissioning of Electrical Equipment and Systems in Health Care Facilities
Product Details
Preface
This is the first edition of CSA Standard Z318.5, Commissioning of Electrical Equipment and Systems in Health Care Facilities. It is one of a series of Standards on commissioning requirements for the design, construction, and maintenance of health care facilities. It is written in SI (metric) units.
Electrical systems are an important and integral part of health care facilities. Their proper design, installation, and operation are of paramount importance for the safety of residents and staff. This Standard sets the process and performance criteria for commissioning electrical systems in health care facilities. It is intended to provide the methodology necessary to commission electrical systems successfully and thereby optimize the benefits commissioning can provide. Better design and construction monitoring leads to better system operation.
Since each construction project uses different electrical systems and design criteria, the information in this Standard is intended to act as a guideline only and must be adapted in order to develop the detailed commissioning plan for each specific project.
The information contained herein is intended to supplement, and not replace, the requirements of local authorities or applicable codes and standards.
This Standard was developed by the Subcommittee on Commissioning of Health Care Facilities under the supervision of the Technical Committee on Health Care Facility Engineering and Physical Plant. It was formally approved by the Technical Committee and the Standards Steering Committee on Health Care Technology.
Scope
