    CSA Preface

    This is the first edition of CSA Standard CAN/CSA-E432-2, Safety specifications for incandescent lamps — Part 2: Tungsten halogen lamps for domestic and similar general lighting purposes, which is an adoption, with Canadian deviations, of the identically titled CEI/IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 432-2: 1 994 (first edition, 1 994-08), including Amendments 1:1996 and 2:1997. Amendment 2:1997 changes the CEI/IEC designation from 432-2 to 60432-2.

    This Standard was reviewed for Canadian adoption by the CSA Technical Committee on International Standards under the jurisdiction of the Strategic Resource Group, and has been formally approved by the Technical Committee. A list of the members of these Committees is available upon request. This Standard has been approved as a National Standard of Canada by the Standards Council of Canada.

    Scope

    This Standard applies to the safety of tungsten halogen lamps intended for use in lighting equipment, designed to be installed on branch circuits not exceeding 750 V and used in accordance with the rules of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Part I.

    Note: Manufacturers designing products for use in Canada may find a helpful summary of the equipment-related requirements of the CEC, Part I, in CSA Publication SPE-2000.

    This part of IEC 432 specifies the safety and the related interchangeability requirements of tungsten halogen lamps for general lighting service. It covers those tungsten halogen lamps that are used as direct replacements for conventional tungsten filament lamps as well as new tungsten halogen lamps which have no correspondence in IEC 432-1, but for which the safety and interchangeability requirements are treated by this standard in conjuction with IEC 432-1.

    These tungsten halogen lamps have the following characteristics:

    - rated wattage up to and including 250 W;

    - rated voltage of 50 V to 250 V inclusive;

    - outer envelopes with various finishes and bulb shapes as designated in ANSI C79.1;

    - caps B15d, B22d, E12, E14, E17, E26, E26d, E26/50x39, E27, or E27/51x39;

    - B15d capped lamps, without outer envelope.

    NOTES

    (1) There is no implication that a tungsten halogen lamp used as a substitute for an incandescent tungsten filament lamp would use the same bulb shape as the original incandescent lamp.

    (2) There are two variations of E26 caps which are not fully compatible. E26/24 caps are used in North America and E26/25 caps used in Japan.

    This standard is intended to be read in conjunction with those sections of IEC 432-1 to which reference is made.

    Préface CSA

    Ce document constitue la première édition de la norme CAN/CSA-E432-2-98, Prescriptions de sécurité pour lampes à incandescence — Partie 2: Lampes tungstène-halogène pour usage domestique et éclairage général similaire. Il s'agit de l'adoption, avec exigences propres au Canada, de la norme internationale de la Commission Electrotechnique Internationale CEI/IEC 432-2: 1 994 (première édition, 1994-08), y compris l'Amendements 1: 1996 et 2:1997, qui porte le même titre. L'Amendement 2:1997 modifie la désignation CEI/IEC de 432-2 a 60432-2.

    Cette norme a été révisée en vue de son adoption pour le Canada par le Comité technique CSA sur les normes internationales, sous l'autorité du Groupe ressource stratégique et a été approuvée par le Comité technique. Une liste des membres de ces comités est disponible sur demande. Cette norme a été approuvée comme Norme nationale du Canada par le Conseil canadien des normes.

    Domaine d'application

    Cette norme vise la sécurité des lampes tungstène-halogène pour appareils d'éclairage, conçues pour être installées sur des dérivations d'au plus 750 V et utilisées conformément au Code canadien de l'électricité, Première partie.

    Note. Les fabricants qui conçoivent des produits pour le marché canadien pourront trouver un résumé utile des exigences relatives aux appareils du CCE, Première partie dans la publication CSA SPE-2000.

    La présente partie de la CEI 432 spécifie les prescriptions de sécurité et les prescriptions d'interchangeabilité correspondantes, relatives aux lampes tungstène-halogène pour éclairage général. Elle couvre celles des lampes tungstène-halogène qui sont utilisées pour le remplacement direct des lampes à filament de tungstène conventionnelles aussi bien que les lampes tungstène-halogène nouvelles qui n'ont pas de correspondance avec la CEI 432-1, mais pour lesquelles les prescriptions de sécurité et d'interchangeabilité sont traitées par la présente publication en conjonction avec la CEI 432-1.

    Ces lampes tungstène-halogène présentent les caractéristiques suivantes:

    - puissance assignée jusqu'à 250 W inclus;

    - tension assignée de 50 V à 250 V inclus;

    - enveloppes extérieures de diverses finitions et des formes d'ampoule telles qu'elles sont définies dans la norme ANSI C79.1;

    - culots B15d, B22d, E12, E14, E17, E26, E26d, E26/50x39, E27 ou E27/51x39;

    - lampes à culot B15d, sans enveloppe extérieure.

    NOTES

    (1) Qu'une lampe tungstène-halogène soit utilisée comme substitut d'une lampe à incandescence à filament de tungstène n'implique pas qu'elle doive utiliser une ampoule de même forme que celle de la lampe à incandescence qu'elle remplace.

    (2) Il y a deux versions de culots E26, qui ne sont pas tout à fait compatibles; les culots E26/24 qui sont utilisés en Amérique du Nord et les culots E26/25 utilisés au Japon.

    La présente norme est destinée à être lue en conjonction avec les sections de la CEI 432-1 auxquelles elle fait référence.
