Masonry Design and Construction for Buildings
Product Details
Preface
This is the first edition of CSA Standard S304, Masonry Design nd Construction in Buildings. It embraces the
design and construction of plain and reinforced masonry based on empirical rules and engineering analysis.
The development of this Standard started in 1974 with the formation of a Joint CSA/NBC Committee on Design of Plain and Reinforced Masonry whose members are listed. The task of the Committee was to bring together relevant information on the present state-of—the—art of the design of masonry, reinforced and unreinforced, and along with practical rules of thumb regarding construction aspects to produce a comprehensive document to satisfy basic design and construction requirements.
Part l, Plain and Reinforced Masonry, of Supplement No. 4 to the National Building Code of Canada 1975 was used as the basic source of information when producing this Standard. Revisions and additions to the NBC clauses have been made where thought desirable or necessary.
This Standard was prepared by the Joint CSA/NBC Committee under the jurisdiction of the CSA Standards Steering Committee on Structures (Design) and was formally approved by these Committees as well as by the Associate Committee on the National Building Code of Canada.
