Overview:
This course is part of the CSA Group Modular Online Training. This online course provides an overview of Section 18 + J in the 2018 Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1. Rather than reviewing the Code in its entirety, this course is designed to provide an overview of Section 18 + J of the CE Code.
Section 18 provides the Rules used to classify a hazardous location based on the degree of hazard in the location; these Rules can modify or supplement the general Rules of the Code
The training for this section also covers material from Appendix J (Rules and Notes for Hazardous locations).
A certificate of achievement is provided upon completion of the course.
For nearly 90 years, the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I has been and continues to be a comprehensive model Code that provides guidance to help make electrical installations and equipment safer.
Learning Objective:
- Gain an understanding of section 18 and J as they relate to hazardous areas in the 2018 CE Code, Part 1.
- Learn about how the Rules of Section 18 apply in situations where there is potential for electrical equipment to ignite gases, vapors, dusts, fibers, or flyings.
