Preface

This is the first edition of CSA Preliminary Standard C300, Capacity Measurement and Test Methods for Household Refrigerators. It is one of a group of Standards issued by the Canadian Standards Association for the purpose of defining methods of measurement and test that are acceptable to a variety of interests concerned in voluntary or mandatory programs to make available to consumers objective information about electrically operated equipment.

This Standard is based to a substantial extent on methods developed by the American Society of Heating and Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers and published as ANSI Standard B38.l—l970, and on I specific technical contributions from a technical committee of the Canadian Appliance Manufacturers Association and a corresponding committee of the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers.

The temperature values in Celsius degrees are a direct conversion from those in Fahrenheit degrees, which are currently used in the test procedures. No increase in accuracy is to be inferred from the use of the additional significant digit. These values will be rounded when the final Standard is published.

Scope and Purpose

1.1

The purpose of this Standard is to specify methods to be used in measuring the capacity and testing the performance of electrically operated household refrigerators in support of a consumer informative labelling program.

1.2

This Standard includes methods for measuring the capacity and methods for testing electrically operated refrigerators designed for a 60—Hz alternating—current supply with a nominal system voltage of 120 V.

1.3

The requirements in this Standard are not I applicable to electrically operated refrigerators employing an absorption refrigeration system.
