Community drainage system planning, design, and maintenance in northern communities
Product Details
Course Overview
This course covers CAN/CSA-S503's design requirements, including operational and maintenance/monitoring needs and discusses the proper function of Canada's northern community drainage infrastructure.
Course participants will understand the main components of a community drainage plan and system; how northern conditions can affect design, construction and management choices; and adjustments that can be made to technical methods (such as time of concentration calculations) when operating in permafrost environments in the North.
Learning Objectives
After taking this course, you will be able to:
- Describe the minimum planning, design and maintenance requirements for community drainage systems in Canada's northern communities.
- Explain how communities and individuals prepare and implement effective community drainage plans.
- Explain how these plans address drainage challenges arising from past practices, and the need to adapt to future changes in climate.
Why get Your Training From CSA?
In 2012, CSA Group was selected by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) to develop standards to help address the impact of climate change in Northern Canada as part of the Northern Infrastructure Standardization Initiative (NISI). CSA Group has actively been researching the role standards and codes play in helping to mitigate the risk associated with changing climate and its impact on infrastructure in various regions of Canada since 2005. Our training reflects the latest industry research and the experts of technical experts to help participants apply these standards.
