Preface
This is the first edition of CSA Standard B365, Installation Code for Solid-Fuel Burning Appliances and Equipment.
Scope
1.1
This Standard covers minimum requirements for the installation of, alteration to, and provision for maintenance of solid-fuel burning appliances and equipment intended to supply heat to air or water.
1.2
For the purpose of this Standard, solid fuel shall include: coal, coke, charcoal, and wood. Recommendations for storage of solid fuel are listed in Appendix A.
1.3
This Standard does not apply to the installation of incinerators, fireplaces or process equipment, and auxiliary heating devices (add-on) which impose heated air or liquid on existing heating appliances.
1.4
This Standard is intended primarily to include requirements for solid-fuel fired appliances having an input rating not exceeding 300 kW (1 000 000 Btu/h).
1.5
This Standard shall not be regarded as a design specification or as an instruction manual for untrained persons.
1.6
Metric units of measurement in this Standard are in accordance with the International System of Units (SI). If a value for measurement as given in this Standard is followed by an equivalent value in other units, the first stated is to be regarded as the requirement. A given equivalent value may be approximate.
