Preface
This is the fourth edition of CSA O151, Canadian softwood plywood. It supersedes the previous editions published in 2004, 1978, and 1974.
This Standard specifies an in-plant production and quality control system that includes auditing and control by a recognized certification body. It also provides a mechanism for the specification, quality control, and certification of custom grades and allows the use of alternative overlay systems.
In addition, this Standard revises the panel and veneer grade requirements and their identification. Panel construction requirements have also been revised, and flexibility of species use has been enhanced. The thickness tolerances for panels greater than 20.5 mm in thickness have been changed and more
flexible panel marking requirements have been introduced. The impact of these changes on the design capacities of typical Canadian softwood plywood products is minimal or null.
This Standard was prepared by the Subcommittee on Plywood, under the jurisdiction of the Technical Committee on Wood Based Panels and the Strategic Steering Committee on Forest Products, and has been formally approved by the Technical Committee.
