Preface
As the use of aluminum developed in welded fabrication, it became evident that there was a requirement for a Standard to cover the general requirements for design and good workmanshlp applicable to aluminum fabrtcation which was not covered by other specific standards and spectficattons. Consequently, the Canadian Standards Association authorized the organtzation of a committee representative of producer and consumer interests to develop a standard for this purpose.
Scope
1.1 This Standard applies to inert gas shielded arc welding (see Clause 4.1) used to join together component parts of engineered aluminum fabrication where such fabrication is not covered by established specifications or codes such as Lloyd's, Bureau of Aeronautics, American Petroleum Institute, ASME etc. It is not intended to apply to fabrication involving metal thickness below inch.
1.2 This Standard also applies to repair by welding of any structures or components of structures referred to in Clause 1.1.
1.3 Reference Publications. Where reference is made to other publications, such references shall be considered to refer to the latest edition approved by the organization issuing that publication.
