Preface
This is the third edition of CSA Standard B137.3, Rigid Poly(Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Pipe for Pressure Applications, and it supersedes the second edition published in 1912.
Scope
1.1 This Standard covers rigid poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) pipe and fittings intended for use in pressure applications such as water mains, water service piping, process piping, etc. Nominal pipe and fitting sizes are 118 inch through 24 inches. Fittings include threaded type Schedule 80, socket types Schedule 40 and 80, and plastic-to-metal transition types.
Note: For use of PVC pipe and fittings in other than water applications, the manufacturer should be consulted.
1.2 This Standard includes requirements for materials, workmanship, dimensions, solvent cement and methods of marking for pipe and fittings. In addition, there are requirements for hydrostatic sustained pressure, impact and extrusion quality for pipe.
