Power-operated dispensing devices for flammable liquids
Product Details
Preface
This is the second edition of CSA Standard B346, Power-Operated Dispensing Devices for Flammable Liquids. It supersedes the first edition, published in October, 1978 as a Preliminary Standard entitled Mechanical Requirements for Power-Operated Dispensing Devices for Flammable Liquids.
The first edition, being a complete photocopy of ULC Standard S607 (formerly ULC-871, was an interim document meant to be used while the second edition was being prepared.
The second edition represents an updating of the Preliminary Standard incorporating new requirements for remanufactured dispensers and new performance requirements for plastic components.
The requirements in this Standard are based upon sound engineering principles, research, records of tests in field experience, and an appreciation of the problems of manufacture, installation, and use derived from consultation with - and information obtained from - manufacturers, users, inspection authorities, and others having specialized experience. They are subject to such revision as further experience and investigation may show to be necessary or desirable.
This Standard was prepared by the Technical Committee on Power-Operated Flammable Fuel Liquid Dispensers under the jurisdiction of the Standards Steering Committee on Fuel Burning Equipment and was formally approved by these Committees.
Scope
1.1
This Standard applies to the mechanical features of new and remanufactured power-operated dispensing devices for petroleum-base liquids for use as fuel in internal combustion engines where such devices are intended primarily to dispense the liquid directly into the fuel storage tank of the engine.
1.2
This Standard does not cover associated nozzles or hose, nor does it apply to aircraft-fuelling devices.
1.3
Metric units of measurement in this Standard are in accordance with the International System of Units (SI). If a value for measurement as given in this Standard is followed by an equivalent value in other units, the first stated is to be regarded as the requirement. A given equivalent value may be approximate.
Note: Installation and use of these dispensing devices are regulated by the Regulatory Authorities, where applicable, and the requirements of CSA Standard C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
