1.1
This Standard defines the procedures for determining the exterior A-weighted equivalent continuous sound power level, A- weighted exterior sound pressure levels, and operator A-weighted sound pressure levels emitted by construction, forestry, and mining machinery with net engine power greater than 15 kW. The categories of machinery covered by this Standard are tractor, loader, dumper, tractor-scraper, backhoe-loader, excavator, grader, log skidder, and tree harvester.
1.2
The requirements for setting up and operating the machinery, the microphone array, and the size of the hemispherical measurement surface are given in this Standard and SAE Standard J919. This Standard is applicable only when ISO Publication 4872, which states the basic criteria for the acoustic environment, instrumentation, microphone positions, procedures for the measurement of the A-weighted equivalent continuous sound pressure levels, and the calculation of the A-weighted equivalent continuous sound power levels, is used as a basic reference document.
