Now more than just a recreational vehicle, the bicycle has become a choice both for transportation and a healthier lifestyle. Commuters and their vehicles are now forced to share the roadways with individuals opting for an active mode of transportation. Cyclists and motorists must be alert and respectful of each other in order to increase the safety of everyone sharing the road, and to reduce the likelihood of injuries. Proper use of cycling helmets can decrease the occurrence and severity of head injuries.
CSA-D113.2 applies to helmets for cyclists and defines the areas of the head that are to be protected. It covers the basic performance requirements for shock absorption, strength of the retention system, as well as marking and label requirements.
