(a) single-phase transformers or transformer-rectifiers;
(b) polyphase-transformers or transformer-rectifiers;
(c) motor or engine-driven alternators and generators;
(d) associated electrical attachments such as wire drive units, arc stabilizer units, remote controls, and optional kits;
(e) plasma arc equipment operating in excess of 100 V dc (eg, plasma arc cutting equipment).
1.2
This Standard does not apply to:
(a) resistance type welding equipment;
(b) arc welders having oil-insulated transformers;
(c) welding equipment used in unusual service conditions such as
(i) exposure to unusually corrosive fumes;
(ii) exposure to steam;
(iii) exposure to abnormal vibration or shock;
(iv) exposure to unusual seacoast or shipboard conditions; or
(v) hazardous locations.
