Scope
1.1
This Standard applies to cord-connected equipment rated 250 volts and less, single phase, to be operated from branch circuits fused at not more than 30 amperes and intended for use indoors, in ordinary locations in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
1.2
This Standard applies to equipment designed to remove water from the air in a room in which it operates, by condensing water vapour on a suitably cooled surface, and having air cooled mechanical refrigeration systems with a capacity not exceeding 3 tons (36,000 Btu per hour).
1.3
This Standard applies also to equipment which includes electrical air heating means.
1.4
This Standard does not apply to equipment in which water vapour is absorbed by an absorbent material over which air is circulated.

This Standard includes requirements for the electrical features of equipment and requirements for the safety of refrigerating systems which form part of the equipment.
