    • Preface/Scope
    Scope

    1.1
    This Standard applies to the following electronic flash apparatus for photographic purposes, having a stored energy not exceeding 2 000 J, together with associated apparatus and not intended to be subjected to dripping or splashing:

    - apparatus of the single-flash type which can have more than one flash head operating at the same time;
    - apparatus for the illumination of sequential photographic exposures;
    - battery chargers and supply units to be used in connection with electronic flash apparatus for photographic purposes. These auxiliary units may form a part of the mains plug;
    - accessories, such as light regulators and slave units, specified in the instruction leaflet.

    This Standard does not apply to stroboscopes.

    As long as no appropriate requirements exist for apparatus having a stor ed energy exceeding 2 000 J, this standard may be used, in so far as it is applicable.

    Additional requirements may be necessary, e.g. for explosion and thermal radiation.

    With regard to the supply, the following categories are covered:

    - mains-operated apparatus;
    - battery-operated apparatus;
    - apparatus having a combination of mains and battery supply.

    This Standard is intended to cover apparatus which can be used both in moderate and tropical climates.

    For the modelling lamps combined with electronic flash apparatus for photographic purposes, additional requirements may be taken from IEC Publication 598-2-9: Luminaires, Section Nine - Photo and Film Luminaires (Non-professional), as far as applicable.

    This Standard applies to the safety of such equipment designed to be installed and used in accordance with the rules of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Part I.

    Note: Manufacturers designing products for use in Canada may find a helpful summary of the equipment-related requirements of the CEC, Part I, in CSA Publication Spe-2000.

    1.2
    This Standard does not apply to apparatus designed for a rated supply voltage exceeding 250 V (r.m.s.) against earth.

    1.3
    This Standard is concerned with safety only and not with the other properties of the apparatus (see Clause 3).

    Domaine d’application

    1.1
    La présente norme est applicable aux appareils électroniques à éclairs pour la photographie énumérés ci-après dont l'énergie emmagasinée ne dépasse pas 2 000 J et qui ne sont pas soumis normalement à des chutes d'eau ou à des éclaboussures:

    - appareils du modèle à éclair unique, qui peuvent posséder une ou plusieurs torches fonctionnant simultanément;
    - appareils à éclairs répétitifs pour prises de vue successives;
    - chargeurs de batteries et modules d'alimentation destinés à être utilisés avec les appareils électroniques à éclairs. Ces modules auxiliaires peuvent faire partie de la fiche de raccordement au réseau;
    - accessoires, tels que régulateurs de lumière et unités asservies, spécifiés dans le mode d'emploi.

    La présente norme n'est pas applicable aux stroboscopes.

    Tant qu'il n'existe pas de prescriptions appropriées, la présente norme peut être utilisée pour les appareils d'énergie emmagasinée supérieure à 2 000 J dans la mesure où elle est applicable.

    Des exigences supplémentaires peuvent être nécessaires, par ex emple pour l'explosion et le rayonnement thermique.

    En ce qui concerne le mode d'alimentation, on distingue les catégories suivantes:

    - appareils alimentés par le secteur;
    - appareils alimentés par batteries;
    - appareils à alimentation combinée batterie/secteur.

    La présente norme s'applique à des appareils qui peuvent être utilisés à la fois sous les climats tempérés et les climats tropicaux.

    Des prescriptions complémentaires pour les appareils électroniques à éclairs pour la photographie munis de lampes de focalisation sont données dans la Publication 598-2-9 de la CEI Luminaires, Section neuf - Luminaires pour prises de vues photographiques et cinématographiques (non professionnels).

    Cette norme s'applique à la sécurité du matériel destiné à être installé et utilisé conformément au Code canadien de l'é lectricité (CEC), Première partie.

    Note. Les fabricants qui conçoivent des produits destinés au marché canadien peuvent trouver un résumé utile des exigences du CCE, Première partie visant ces appareils dans la publication CSA Spe-2000.

    1.2
    La présente norme n'est pas applicable aux appareils conçus pour une tension nominale d'alimentation supérieure à 250 V (valeur efficace) par rapport à la terre.

    1.3
    La présente norme ne concerne que la sécurité, à l'exclusion des autres caractéristiques des appareils (voir l'article 3).
