CSA-International has been advised of the following recall issued by ACL Manufacturing and this is being forwarded for your further information.

ACL Manufacturing Inc. is announcing the recall of a certain production run of their Series ACL-SV-SSO-8-24 valve to address the potential safety hazard where the valve may inadvertently remain open when it should close.

Investigation by ACL has determined that the actuator plunger component of the electric solenoid fails to operate reliably. ACL is not aware of any incidents of injury or property damage as a result of this potential safety hazard.

Approximately 161 units were produced between June 1, 2010 and October 26, 2010 and these will be repaired by replacing the plunger spring. All customers are being contacted directly by ACL who will make arrangements for their repair.

The recalled valves can be identified by the date code on their nameplate which is printed beneath the box identifying the model number as shown below. The recalled units are date coded from 6.1-2010 through 10.26-2010.
