CSA Group, a leading global provider of product testing and certification services and standards development, is notifying consumers and retailers Phoenix brand safety footwear marked for electric shock resistance has not been certified by CSA Group to the applicable standard. In cooperation with CSA Group, Haiyu Limited-Liability Company of Shandong, China today announced the voluntary recall of 687 pairs of safety footwear with model number PH104 Stampede (8532).
The footwear has a tag marking “Ω” indicating it complies with Electrical Shock Resistance. The affected footwear has not been certified by CSA Group for electrical shock resistance and as such the product may present a risk to the wearer when such protection is required.
There have been no reports of injury involving this footwear. The identified product was sold by Footwear Imports 2001 Inc. from April 2014 and sold only through select Giant Tiger stores in Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Manitoba and Alberta.
Consumers with the affected model are advised to immediately discontinue use of the product and to contact their Giant Tiger store for refund or exchange.
