Jones Fair Ltd. And CSA International Announce the Voluntary Recall of Canadian Felt Pacs Protective Footwear

In cooperation with CSA International, Jones Fair Ltd. of Oakville, ON, announced today the voluntary recall of 1,500 pairs of the Canadian Felt Pac Protective Footwear. The affected

protective footwear bear the ESR tag (bearing the orange omega “W ” sign) to indicate its certification related to its classification as Electrical Shock Resistant Protective Footwear. The footwear in question does not comply with this requirement and could pose a potential hazard for electric shock that may result in death or serious injury to the user should they step on live high voltage wires.

Neither the manufacturer nor CSA International have received any reports of deaths or injuries related to this product.

The protective footwear affected by this recall are the Canadian Felt Pac model with CSA green labels having serial numbers 55555 and 52366 through 52368. The protective footwear have a black polyurethane (PU) sole with a leather and suede upper and were sold in sizes 9, 10, 11 and 12. The marking “KINGTREAD” is placed on the tongue of each unit and the file number “LM77149″ appears on a label sewn on the inside of the tongue.

The protective footwear was sold by one distributor only; Jones Fair Ltd. located in Oakville, ON. The protective footwear was sold from September 2000 to December 2000 for about $110. Of the 1500 pairs sold to the marketplace, 1200 pairs have already had the ESR tag removed.

Consumers possessing the remaining units should stop using the recalled protective footwear immediately and call Jones Fair Ltd. collect at 1-905-825-8018 for instructions on how to obtain a replacement for the defective units or write to Jones Fair Ltd.
