CSA International and CFM Corporation Announce Recall to Repair Vermont Castings Five Burner Gas Grills

In cooperation with CSA International, CFM Corporation is voluntarily recalling approximately 12,500 Vermont Casting five-burner gas grills in North America. These grills may have been manufactured in a manner that does not allow the burner tubes to be fully installed into the gas valves. If a consumer pulls on the console of these grills, the console may flex and the gas valves may become disconnected from the burners. If disconnection occurs and a valve is turned on, the valve may release gas outside the burner creating a risk of fire that could cause injury and property damage.

CFM has received 38 reports involving gas leaks. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

The recall applies to models CF9085 and CF9086 that have a serial number between the following range: 04010001 and 04319999 and to model VCS5000that has a serial number between the following range: 04060001 and 04319999. The model number and serial number can be found on a label on the left side of the back of the cabinet.

Models CF9085 and CF9086 were sold at The Home Depot from January 2004 through September 2004. Model VCS5000 was sold at Vermont Castings dealers and distributors from January 2004 through September 2004.

Consumers should stop using the grills immediately and contact CFM Corporation toll-free at (866) 333-4833 Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET or visit the firm’s web site at www.cfmcorp.com to schedule a free, in-home repair or to make arrangements to receive a consumer-installed safety retrofit kit.
