CSA Group, a leading global provider of testing and certification services and a standards development organization, announced today its accreditation by Standards Council of Canada (SCC) for testing and certification of high-visibility safety apparel to the CSA Z96.1 standard.

The CSA Z96.1 standard and related guideline covers requirements for occupational apparel that is capable of signaling the user’s presence visually and is intended to help ensure the user is easily seen under well-illuminated, low-light and dark work conditions. Performance requirements for this apparel include specifications for colour, retro-reflection and minimum light conditions as well as for the construction of the materials.

CSA Group can provide testing to the two categories of CSA Z96-09: background and combined performance retro-reflective material and for retro-reflective and combined performance reflective materials. In addition to our certification program for finished high-visibility garments, CSA Group also offers component certification programs for background materials, retro-reflective stripes/bands and combined performance stripes/bands, which are used in the construction of the finished apparel.
