CSA Group Honoured as Top Toronto-Area Employer

CSA Group, a global provider of testing and certification services and a leading standards development organization, has been selected as one of the Greater Toronto’s Top Employers, as part of the Canada’s Top 100 project by Mediacorp.

This is the 11th annual edition of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers, which has become a benchmark in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) for workplace best-practices. The 2017 winners were announced in a special magazine feature in The Globe and Mail.

“We are very pleased to be selected as one of the Greater Toronto’s Top Employers,” said David Weinstein, President and Chief Executive Officer, CSA Group. “This is a place that combines building a career with pursuing social good. We attract people who don’t want to work for a purely commercial enterprise. We have balanced this with offering benefits including skills training, tuition reimbursement, health and welfare options and an improved, renovated atmosphere at our global headquarters in northwest Toronto.”

Weinstein noted that in recent years, CSA Group has dedicated substantial resources to mentoring, coaching and management development programs as well as technical training. CSA Group has also developed four paths to career development and has training materials available for each employee.

This year saw a record number of employers apply to the national competition. Mediacorp editors started by examining the recruitment histories of over 90,000 employers that it tracks for the job-search engine, Eluta.ca. From this pool, Mediacorp invited approximately 7,500 employers to submit detailed applications, including a comprehensive review of their operations and HR practices that compares them to others in their industry and region.

Employers throughout the GTA were evaluated by the editors at Canada’s Top 100 Employers using the same criteria as the national competition: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs. The competition is open to any employer with its head office in the GTA. Employers of any size may apply, whether in the private or public sector.
