CSA Group, a leading global provider of standards development and testing and certification services, announced today that its laboratory in Bangalore, India received the CB accreditation for IT, medical and lab, test and measurement equipment. CSA Group’s lab is the ONLY test facility in India that is accredited under the CB scheme for all three major electronics and medical device segments.

The Indian electronics and hardware industry is expected to see more than 10 per cent growth and reach $112-130 billion USD by 2018, according to an ASSOCHAM-EY study. As the manufacturing sector in India grows, in order for companies to reach global markets, testing and certification for compliance with global standards will become a necessary part of manufacturing process[1].

The CB accreditation enables CSA Group’s India lab to provide international certifications through harmonization of technical requirements across nations and helps manufacturers achieve global market access quickly and easily. CBTL accreditation complements the existing accreditations of the CSA Group lab in India: National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories (NABL) to ISO 17025 and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). CSA Group India can evaluate the test requirements initially and offer an integrated test program to facilitate a complete compliance solution for manufacturers offering a one-stop service for global market.

The CSA Group India laboratory is also accredited for product categories including Audio Video Apparatus (IS 616/IEC 60065) and LED Lamps (IS 16102/IEC 62560). In addition, the lab offers environmental testing including Ingress Protection Testing (IEC 60529) in accordance with manufacturer’s requirements.

In India, CSA Group has grown substantially in capabilities over the past few years, now offering testing and certification services in the areas of industrial and hazardous location products, process control and automation products, and components and self-ballasted LED products. It also offers testing services for Ingress protection and under BIS CRS scheme. The laboratory in Bangalore has received accreditations from SCC, OSHA, NABL and BIS to support Indian and Global manufacturers with North America and Global certification requirements including testing for BIS Compulsory registration Scheme.
