Thailand TISI has a policy to implement a new format of TIS mark. The new format of TIS mark will be provided with QR code. Consumers will be able to scan QR code, and this QR code will bring to URL of TISI website to display related TIS certificate of product. This is to ensure that the product with TIS mark will be traceable to applicable certificate and is it can be easily identified for fake TIS marked products.

Size of QR code: not less than 10x10mm

Procedure: TISI does not have documented procedure yet of how to obtain the QR code. Based on the tentative procedure, TISI will create a URL link for QR code and give to licensee (importer). It is still uncertain if licensee will require to submit additional application to request this URL for QR code or not. TISI will try to create a system online so that licensee can request URL link for QR code online in order to reduce the process. A formal procedure will be issued as “Particular Requirement” for each TIS standard which is expected to be released between October and November, 2020.

Now TISI has proposed to the government cabinet via ministry of industrial to extend effective date of TISI QR code implementation for another 180 days. Government cabinet has already made decision to formally approve this extension of effective date as follows;

Government cabinet decision date: January 5, 2021
Previous effective date: January 21, 2021
New effective date: 180 days from previous effective date (July 20, 2021)

This is officially confirmed that TISI QR code effective date is extended as new effective date of July 20, 2021.
