Enterprise Singapore has issued the circular 2020-08 on October 19, 2020. This circular is to inform about the change in safety standard for fans (limited to ceiling, table, standing and wall fans), regulated under the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Registration Scheme (CPS Scheme).

Testing and certification for registration under the CPS scheme, the required safety standard for fans will be revised as following:

• Table, standing or wall fans: IEC 60335-2-80: 2002  or  SS 655:2020
• Ceiling fans: IEC 60335-2-80: 2002 and SS 655:2020 (Annex ZA only) or SS 655:2020

SS 655:2020 is now available as an alternate minimum edition for registration and renewal of fans under the CPS scheme.

IEC 60335-2-80: 2002 shall continue to be the minimum applicable edition of IEC standards for registration and renewal of fans under the CPS scheme.
