India Postponement of Registration by BIS for Certain Products Notified by MNRE
Effective January 4, 2019
Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued a gazette postponing the mandatory BIS registration of some products. The gazette is as below and also can be accessed via PDF here.
India Notification No. 50/2015-2020 Import Policy under Electronics and IT Goods under Schedule I
Effective January 8, 2019
Import policy for Electronics and IT Goods will be allowed subject to:
- Registration with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)
- Exemption letter from MeitY for a specific consignment
India (BIS) Notification of Coming New Standards for Secondary Cells and Batteries for Portable Applications
Method of Compliance: BIS has not posted any guidelines presently on how to migrate to the new standard.
