India (BIS) - Online Submission and Processing of Application for Grant/Inclusion/Service Requests

Effective May 4, 2020

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) published a notification “to do away with the submission of hard copies of applications with effect from May 4, 2020”. The applications submitted online will be processed as follows:

  1. Online applications for Grant, Inclusion, Change in Authorized Indian Representative (AIR), or Management Change will be processed on the basis of scanned copies of documents and Affidavit.

The hard copy of Affidavit as required, must be submitted in BIS in original hard copy within 30 days (or 30 days after the lockdown will be over) of acceptance of the application.

For the current applications, BIS is working on updating the portal layout and allowing the applicant to upload the soft copy of the Affidavit. Till then, the scan copy of the Affidavit can be shared over email with BIS, or the scan copy can be updated as a query reply on the BIS portal.

  1. In case the hard copy of Affidavit is not received by BIS within the stipulated period, action as per Guidelines for Scheme II and BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations 2018 shall be taken.
