Effective June 1, 2020 

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) announced that ISI Mark for the plugs and sockets per IS 1293 will be mandatory from June 1, 2020. Until then, it is only necessary to design the plugs per the design and dimension provided in the IS 1293 standard. However, from June 1, 2020, it is mandatory that these products are certified and licensed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). These products must carry an ISI Mark with a valid CM/L number.
