EU - Commission Delegated Regulation 2022/30/EU - RED Cybersecurity Update
On Jan. 12, 2022, the Official Journal of the European Union published Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/30 (link), introducing supplemental compliance requirements to Article 3(3)(d), (e), and (f) of the Radio Equipment Directive, 2014/53/EU (link). The new regulation increases cybersecurity, personal data privacy and fraud protection requirements for applicable wireless devices available on the EU market. The regulation enters into force on Feb. 1, 2022, and becomes mandatory on Aug. 1, 2024.
Currently, no harmonized standards cover the scope of the new regulation. The EU has yet to submit the final request the European Standards Organizations (ESOs) to create such standards; however, the expectation is that harmonized standards will be in place about 10 months before the requirements become mandatory (Oct 2023).
