The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) updated its type approval procedures as well as the list of accredited labs. Changes include the format and the general description of the categories, requirements and recommendations for importing.

Egypt has two processes of Type Approval:

1) The Light Type Approval Process

• Manufacturer has ISO17025 accreditation in EMC and Safety, or
• The Factory is not in China or India, or
• Factory is in China or India but the manufacturer is NOT, and Manufacturer has ISO9001 accreditation in Design/manufacturing scope

2) The Tight Type Approval Process

• The factory is in China or Asia, and
• The manufacturer is in China or Asia, or
• The manufacturer is outside China or Asia but does not have ISO9001 accreditation
