Canada (ISED) RSS-130, Issue 2 Canada (ISED) RSS-196, Issue 2
Effective February 8, 2019
Canada ISED published the following new standards:
- RSS-130 Issue 2, Equipment Operating in the Frequency Bands 617-652 MHz, 663-698 MHz, 698-756 MHz and 777-787 MHz – sets out certification requirements for all equipment operating in the frequency bands 617-652 MHz, 663-698 MHz, 698-756 MHz and 777-787 MHz.
- RSS-196 Issue 2, Point-to-Multipoint Broadband Equipment Operating in the Band 512-608 MHz for Rural Remote Broadband Systems (RRBS) (TV Channels 21 to 36) – sets out certification requirements for equipment employed in Rural Remote Broadband Systems (RRBS) to provide point-to-multipoint fixed wireless access broadband radio communication in the band 512-608 MHz (TV channels 21 to 36).
Certification Bodies have one year from the date of publication to amend their recognized scope of accreditation to reflect the new release of this standard in accordance with ISED procedures for conformity assessment bodies.
CANADA (ISED) Decision on New Requirements for Wireless Device Testing Laboratories
Effective March 15, 2019
Canada ISED recently revised several documents to reflect new requirements and procedures regarding test lab accreditation and recognition. The new requirements will become effective in one year. Starting from March 15, 2019, Certification Bodies must accept test reports only from testing laboratories that are recognized by ISED and listed on the Conformity Assessment Bodies webpage.
Canada Minister of National Resources Released Regulations Amending Energy Efficiency Regulations 2016: SOR/2018-201

The amendment contains additional requirements for energy-using products. Among the important amendments, Ministry of National Resources now requires the use of a nationally recognized verification mark which may be placed on the product package especially in cases where the products are too small to hold a label.
2 (1) Subsection 4(2) of the Regulations is replaced by the following
Location and visibility
(2) The verification mark must be readily visible on the surface of the energy-using product. However, in respect of the following energy-using products, the verification mark may be on the exterior of the product’s package:
(a) a CFL;
(b) a general service lamp;
(c) a modified spectrum incandescent lamp;
(d) a general service fluorescent lamp;
(e) a general service incandescent reflector lamp;
(f) a battery charger; and
(g) an external power supply.

Chile New Resolution and Test Protocols for Electrical and Gas Products
Effective February 5, 2019
The Electricity and Fuel Board (SEC) issued new Resolutions and Test Protocols to request mandatory certification for specific electrical and gas products aimed to be imported and sold in Chile. These Resolutions and Protocols establish the applicable testing and certification requirements for each product in terms of Energy Efficiency and Safety, mostly based on IEC standards for electrical products and on UNE EN ISO standards for gas products.
Below is the list of products that must present a valid CoC issued by an accredited Certification Body recognized by SEC as well as the effective dates per product.
