Preface
This is the first edition of the fourth in a series of Standards forming a code for CANDU Nuclear Power Plant Components.
This Standard is intended to provide uniform rules for periodic inspection of CANDU Nuclear Power Plant Components. It should be understood that this document does not have force of law until adopted officially by the authority having jurisdiction; also that the authority, even though having adopted it, should be consulted as to the extent of such adoption, as the Standard may have been adopted With the exemptions or additional requirements.
Users of this Standard will note that internal references are made simply to a Clause. This is in contrast to a more detailed practice in the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code wherein terms such as Section, Article etc., are used. Users should note the convention observed in making references. When reference is made to another Clause, it is intended that all numbers, subsidiary to that to which reference is made, shall be included. For example, reference to 3.2 includes all material in Clause 3.2; reference to 3.2.4 includes all material in Clause 3.2.4.
This Standard was prepared by the Codes and Standards Committee of the Canadian Nuclear Association, was approved by the CSA Committee on Periodic Inspection of Nuclear Power Plants which is under the jurisdiction of the Sectional Committee for Nuclear Standards, and was authorized as a Preliminary Standard by the Standards Policy Board.
