Preface
This is the common UL and CSA Standard for Luminaires. It is the first edition of CSA C22.2 No. 250.0-00 and the first edition of UL 1598.
This common Standard was prepared by CSA International and Underwriters Laboratories Inc., and the Luminaire manufacturing industry. The efforts and support of the Canadian Lamp and Fixture Association (CLFMA) and the American Lighting Association (ALA) gratefully acknowledged.
This Standard was reviewed by the CSA Subcommittee on CSA C22.2 No. 9.0 of the Technical Committee on Consumer and Commercial Products under the jurisdiction of the CSA Strategic Resource Group on the Canadian Electrical Code, Part II, and was approved by these committees.
This Standard will be submitted to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for publication as an American National Standard.
Note: Although the intended primary application of this Standard is stated in its Scope, it is important to note that it remains the responsibility of the users of the Standard to judge its suitability for their particular purpose.
Scope
1.1.1
This Standard applies to luminaires for use in nonhazardous locations that are intended for installation on branch circuits of 600 V nominal or less between conductors in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I (CE Code, Part I), and the ANSI/NFPA 70 National Electrical Code (NEC).
