Preface

Requests for appropriate Canadian specifications for various types of building materials such as aggregates for masonry purposes, etc., were made on various occasions during recent years by certain building interests including the Department of Public Works, Ottawa. to meet these requests, the CSA Executive Committee authorized the work on the various subjects to proceed under the jurisdiction of the Sectional Committee on Building Materials.

This Specification is based on the corresponding Specification of the American Society for Testing Materials. In it is incorporated the requirements recommended by the ASTM, together with the necessary changes to bring it into conformity with present day Canadian practice.

Letter ballot approval was obtained from the Sectional Committee on Building Materials in November 1950, and from the Main Committee of the Association with authority to publish it as a CSA Standard, in December l950.

Scope

This Specification covers aggregates for use in masonry mortar.
