Course Overview
The CSA benchmark energy standards specifies which information is to be gathered and how system parameters are to be measured or calculated using transparent, uniform, validated, repeatable, and consistent methods of measurement.
The BEF standards provide guidance in defining methodologies for defining system boundaries, the essential load required to perform the work within the boundary and conversion of this load using performance factors to determine the essential energy. This defines the minimum essential energy required to perform the work based on best available technology. The BEF is defined as the ratio of the actual energy to the estimated essential energy within the same system boundary.
The benchmarking information can be used as part of an overall energy management system (EnMS) or other related purposes. Understanding advantages and opportunities of the BEF methodology compared to current industry benchmarking practices will increase utilization of the concept.
This one-to-two-hour online course provides training and guidelines to the application of benchmark energy factor (BEF) industrial energy efficiency standards.
