    B137.2-02 Scope

    1.1
This Standard provides requirements for rigid polyvinyl chloride (PVC) injection-moulded fittings intended for use in pressure applications such as water mains, water service piping, process piping, and fire lines. Fittings covered by this Standard are suitable for use with PVC pipes having outside diameter (OD) dimensions of cast iron pipe. Only one pressure rating, 1620 kPa (Class 150), is included that is suitable for use with compatible OD PVC pipes having a dimension ratio (DR) of 18 or more. The fittings have gasketed joints.

Note: If PVC fittings are to be used in other than water applications, the manufacturer should be consulted.

    1.2

This Standard includes general requirements for materials, performance requirements, requirements for manufactured fittings, specimen preparation requirements, test methods, marking requirements, and quality of work requirements.

Note: Pipe refers to pipe having IPS outside diameters. Tubing refers to pipe having copper tube size outside
diameters. Where there are test requirements for pipe, they apply to both pipe and tubing.

    1.4
The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values in parentheses are for information only.

    B137.5-02 Scope

This Standard provides requirements for crosslinked polyethylene pressure tubing systems. Components are made in one standard dimension ratio (SDR 9) and are intended for use in potable water distribution systems at a maximum working temperature of 82°C and 690 kPa (100 psi).

Note: The pressure rating for water at 23°C and 93°C is given in Appendix A.

    1.2
The components covered by this Standard are intended for use in residential and commercial hot and cold potable water distribution systems, as well as sealed central-heating (including under-floor) systems.

Note: This Standard may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This Standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this Standard to consult and
establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

    1.3
The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values in parentheses are for information only.

    B137.6-02 Scope

    1.1
This Standard provides requirements for chlorinated polyvinyl chloride pipe, tubing, and fittings having a standard dimension ratio SDR 11, and Schedules 40 and 80 pipe in sizes where the dimension ratio does not exceed 11, for use in hot- and cold-water pressurized distribution systems at a maximum working
pressure and temperature of 690 kPa (100 psi) and 82°C (180°F).

    1.2
This Standard includes requirements for materials, quality of work, dimensions and tolerances, hydrostatic sustained pressure strength, thermocycling resistance, solvent cement, joint strength, and methods of marking.

    1.3
The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values in parentheses are for information only.

    B137.8-02 Scope

    1.1
This Standard provides requirements for polybutylene (PB) pipe, tubing, and fittings. Nominal pipe sizes (NPS) covered are from NPS-1/4 through NPS-2. Fittings covered include insert-type fittings, socket fusion fittings, plastic-to-metal transition fittings, and compression-type fittings. These pipes, tubing, and fittings are intended for use in pressure applications such as hot and cold potable and nonpotable water distribution systems. Pipe, tubing, and fittings are intended for use in
690 kPa (100 psi) systems operating at temperatures up to and including 82°C.

Note: Use of this tubing in other applications such as sprinkler systems and slab heating systems is acceptable provided
they comply with the applicable code requirements. Refer to the manufacturers recommendations and Appendix B of this
    Standard.

    1.2
The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.

    B137.9-02 Scope

    1.1
This Standard provides requirements for macrocomposite pipe consisting of a welded aluminum tube laminated by a melt adhesive to layers of polyethylene inside and outside the aluminum tube. The Standard also provides requirements for fittings (connectors) for use with this composite pipe. The pipes considered in this Standard are for use in potable water supply systems and are pressure-rated for 1380 kPa (200 psi) at 23°C and/or 1035 kPa (150 psi) at 60°C.

    1.2
The Standard includes requirements for materials, quality of work, dimensions, thermocycling resistance, sustained pressure performance, delamination resistance, and marking.

    Notes:

    (1) In developing the hydrostatic design basis for the pipes, in accordance with CSA Standard B137.0, the fibre stress has been replaced by pressure.
    (2) The pressure rating of macrocomposite pipes is sensitive to the thickness of the aluminum metal reinforcing layer. Pipes having the same dimension ratio but different metal reinforcing layer thicknesses will have different pressure ratings. Dimension ratio therefore cannot be used, as it is with homogeneous walled pipes, for assessing changes in pressure rating with wall thickness variation.

    1.3
The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values in parentheses are for information only.
