Update #1 was published as notification that this is now a National Standard of Canada.
1. Scope
1.1 This Standard specifies the test method to be used in measuring the electrical characteristics of uninterruptible power supplies. It applies to the following general types of UPS systems:
(a)standby;
(b)on-line; and
(c)line interactive.
The UPS systems to be evaluated may be used to operate any type of linear or nonlinear load.
1.2 This Standard outlines the tests to be used in determining the energy efficiency and harmonic performance of uninterruptible power supplies. The efficiency and harmonic performance are determined directly from the input and output voltage and current measurements, thus providing a fast and accurate assessment of the characteristics of the equipment.
1.3 This Standard describes the method for measuring and reporting total harmonic distortion (THD) content.
1.4 The test method outlined is capable of accurately assessing both full-load and partial-load characteristics.
1.5 This Standard applies to UPS operating in the normal mode.
1.6 This Standard does not include performance criteria.
